Becoming Homemade

I thought along with my website I would start a blog about my weekly homemade items. For my sort-of New Years resolution I have decided to try to make most of everything we eat.  I say most of everything because I am not making meat.  We do however have a hunter in our home so I am proud to say venison is a big part of our protein.  Last year is when I started this whole goal of making our food at home.  So far I have made gummies, bread, dinner rolls, cranberry sauce, marshmallows, hamburger buns, and chocolate sauce.  My future goals are; Orange Marmalade, Ketchup, and BBQ sauce.  So along my way of becoming homemade, I thought I would include my fellow blog followers.

I have desired to eliminate packaged, convenience foods from my household and replace them with homemade foods from organic and natural ingredients for some time now; however, I always become overwhelmed when I think of how time consuming it must be to prepare everything myself. Then I started reading some of your posts about foods that you have made, and it got me thinking that perhaps I CAN make the transition, if I do it one food at a time. You have totally inspired me to begin my journey of providing the most healthy, nutritious, and homemade foods for my family! Thanks for posting the recipes, and I hope to see more in the near future!

Melissa, I am the farthest from homemade. My friends use to make fun of me because you would never find me in the kitchen. When I become determined about something, I pour in my heart and soul. My mom has always made wonderful food. So really what did I need to cook for? Then I became a wife and mother and food was already made and fast. So that is what I bought.
Last year I decided I would make bread (I will soon post this recipe) my son said he liked it more than the stuff from the store. So a light bulb moment hit me. Maybe I could save money and make my home a healthier place. This is where my journey began. One day I went to start weight watchers and realized, I had lost 22 pounds! 22 pound, I hadn't done anything. Thinking to myself, yes I did. I have started making our bread and little things here and there. Whatever preservatives they put in our food for shelf life is the killer, literally. I have promised myself to make better, choices for my family. I am glad to share my journey along the way. Thanks for your comment and support, it means the world to me to hear your feedback.
